GEORGIA’S TAX FREE WEEKEND SET FOR AUGUST 10TH AND 11TH

Written by Matt Davis on August 9, 2012. Posted in News/Weather

Georgians will get to shop tax free this weekend with a Sales Tax Holiday set for August 10th and 11th.  Items to be exempt from sales tax include clothing (including footwear) with a sales price of $100 or less per item.  The exemption excludes clothing accessories such as jewelry, handbags, umbrellas, eyewear, watches and watchbands.  Also exempt are computers.  This includes single purchases, with a sale price of $1,000 or less, of personal computers and personal computer-related accessories.  The exemption excludes cellular devices, furniture and computer-related accessories designed for recreational use.  And for all the parents with kids heading back to school, there’s good news for you – school supplies will be exempt from sales tax during Georgia’s Sales Tax Holiday.  That includes general school supplies to be used in the classroom or in classroom-related activities with a sales price of $20 or less per item.

For a list of items that will be exempt from sales taxes during Georgia’s Sales Tax holiday, visit the Georgia Department of Revenue’s website at www.etax.dor.ga.gov.
