GEORGIA TO HONOR IRAQ WAR VETERANS IN DOWNTOWN ROME PARADE TOMORROW

Written by Matt Davis on June 15, 2012. Posted in News/Weather

Tomorrow will be a big day in downtown Rome as the state of Georgia comes together to honor veterans of the Iraq War with the Georgia Honors Iraq War Veterans parade.  The parade is scheduled to get underway at 11 am and will be followed by entertainment at The Forum.  Iraq War veterans from all over the state will be in town for the event.  Congressmen Phil Gingrey and Tom Graves will be in attendance, along with other dignitaries.  Governor Nathan Deal will read a proclamation at the event at The Forum following the parade.

Volunteer Charisse Durham urges the public to come out and honor Iraq War veterans.  She says that it is an honor for Rome to be chosen as the site of the parade, an effort spearheaded by Congressman Phil Gingrey’s office.
Tiger Flight and the US Navy will conduct flyovers to signify the start of the parade, which is being presented by the American Legion Post 5.  For more information, you can visit www.GeorgiaHonorsIraqVeterans.com.
