GEORGIA GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO OPEN 2018 SESSION ON MONDAY

Written by Matt Davis on January 5, 2018. Posted in News/Weather

The Georgia General Assembly will open their 2018 session on Monday at the State Capitol in Atlanta.

State Representative Katie Dempsey of Rome says that she is particularly looking forward to Nathan Deal’s State of the State address for this year; it will be his last one as Governor of Georgia.

Dempsey anticipates an exciting legislative session.  She compares it to a huddle in sports, where lawmakers’ ultimate goal is the well-being of their constituents.

Legislators (and others) can expect heightened traffic in downtown Atlanta on Monday.  Georgia will take on Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship game that evening at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, an outing for which President Donald Trump is expected to be in town.
