The Georgia General Assembly will meet for the first time in 2012 a week from today at the state capitol in Atlanta.  State Representative Katie Dempsey was a guest on WLAQ’s “Good Morning Rome” last week and said that she believes juvenile and criminal justice reform will be hot topics during this legislative session.

Dempsey says that state legislators will also be working on tightening and balancing the state’s budgets in 2012, and she anticipates that charter schools will also be on their agenda.  She gives a nod to Floyd County as a leader where charter schools are concerned, with the Floyd County College and Career Academy.

State Senator Barry Loudermilk will be a guest on WLAQ’s “Good Morning Rome” this Thursday, January 5th at 8:45 am.
