GAMING BUST LEADS TO CLOSURE OF LOCAL CONVENIENCE STORES
A gaming bust on Monday morning led to the closure of seven convenience stores around Rome and Floyd County. Rome Police Chief Elaine Snow told WLAQ News/The Ridge Report that the bust resulted from an investigation into reports of illegal gambling machines at these establishments, which included four in the City of Rome and three in Floyd County. The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department, the Rome City Police, the Floyd County Police, the Rome Floyd Metro Drug Task Force and the Floyd County District Attorney’s Office participated in the bust. Chief Snow says that warrants have been served to the operators of these stores and that the investigation is ongoing.
