Written by Matt Davis on May 16, 2017. Posted in News/Weather

The Atlanta Braves beat the Toronto Blue Jays 10-6 on Monday night in the opener of a brief two-game interleague series at Toronto, ending a five game winning streak for the Blue Jays.

Freddie Freeman led the charge with a three-run homer in the Braves’ four-run sixth inning.  It was his 13th home run of the season.

Matt Kemp also contributed four hits and scored three runs in the Braves’ victory over the Blue Jays.  Nick Markakis had three RBIs.

Bartolo Colon got the win for Atlanta after allowing three runs (two of them earned) and seven hits, walking two and striking out one over five innings.  Mike Bolsinger took the loss for Toronto.

The Braves and the Blue Jays will wrap up their two-game set at the Rogers Centre in Toronto this afternoon at 4:07 pm.  We will join the Atlanta Braves Radio Network for pre-game programming (in progress) upon the conclusion of the Rush Limbaugh Show at 3 pm on WLAQ AM 1410.

A total of four outings will be played in the current series between the Braves and the Blue Jays.  The teams will head to SunTrust Park for a pair of games on Wednesday and Thursday nights; the two-game set will open a nine-game homestand for Atlanta.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves beat the Kannapolis Intimidators 9-5 in game three of a four game series at State Mutual Stadium on Monday night.  The finale is scheduled for this morning at 10:30 am.
