FLOYD COUNTY PAWS ENCOURAGES ANIMAL ADOPTIONS OVER THE SUMMER MONTHS

Written by Matt Davis on July 9, 2019. Posted in News/Weather

Floyd County PAWS (or Public Animal Welfare Services) aims to find good homes for pets in need this summer.

Jeff Mitchell, director of the shelter, says that PAWS is inundated at this time of year with animals that are in need of a good home.  The shelter has waived its adoption fees for the time being to (hopefully) get these cats and dogs into good homes and make room for incoming animals.

Mitchell adds that rescues are now being accepted by appointment in order to more efficiently use the space available at PAWS.

If you are unable to adopt at this time, Mitchell asserts that you can still help pets in need by donating food and other necessities to PAWS and other rescue organizations.  Volunteers and monetary donations are also sought.

PAWS is located at 99 North Avenue in Rome.  It is open every Monday thru Saturday.  It can be reached by phone at (706) 236-4537.

The shelter was funded by the 2013 SPLOST.  It officially opened its doors to the public in December 2016.
