EXCITEMENT SURROUNDS THE BEGINNING OF THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR

Written by Matt Davis on August 3, 2017. Posted in News/Weather

As the curtain rises on a brand new school year, Lou Byars, Superintendent of the Rome City Schools, has a message for his friends in the Floyd County School system (and at other schools) – good luck!

Byars is enthusiastic about the future of his own school system as the 2017-2018 school year begins.  This will mark his first full year as the city schools’ Superintendent since being named to the post permanently in February.  He muses that there was a lot of excitement in the air on the Rome City Schools’ first day of classes last Friday as it ushered in new beginnings for students, faculty and the community.

The first day of classes for the Floyd County Schools is also on the books; they began the new school year on Wednesday.  Today is the first day of school for Unity Christian School as well as Berry College Elementary and Middle Schools.
