EXCHANGE CLUB VETERANS DAY EVENT TO EXTEND PRACTICAL SUPPORT TO LOCAL VETERANS

Written by Matt Davis on November 7, 2017. Posted in News/Weather

This Saturday, November 11th is Veterans Day.  The Americanism Committee of the Exchange Club of Rome aims to honor area veterans (in a helpful way) with a special Veterans Day Event at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds.  It will be held rain or shine on Saturday from 9 am until 4 pm.

A number of organizations will be present to offer veteran support.  Georgia Highlands College will offer free oral screenings, and Georgia Northwestern Technical College will provide haircuts for male and female veterans.  Vision screenings will be provided by the local Lions Club.  PAWS (Public Animal Welfare Services) will have a few furry friends for veterans to adopt at the event, which will also feature Yoga Therapy.

John Fortune, a member of the Rome Exchange Club’s Americanism Committee, says that the Veterans Day Event is designed to express practical support towards local veterans.  He adds that the first-time event has drawn substantial involvement of the community.

Other organizations scheduled to meet with veterans at the free Veterans Day Event include the Georgia Army National Guard, Duke Military Museum, Farrell’s Frame and Design, local military historian Richard Riggs, Soldier X, military collector Al Castello, the DAV (Disabled American Veterans), and American Legion & Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Those who would like more information about the event are directed to contact John Fortune at (706) 346-0119.
