EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS?  THERE’S AN APP FOR THAT!

Written by Matt Davis on September 12, 2017. Posted in News/Weather

Tim Herrington, Director of the Floyd County Emergency Management Agency, muses that the recent rash of hurricanes have kept forecasters and first responders busy these days.

Incidentally, September is observed annually as National Preparedness Month.  And there’s an app for that, states Herrington.  He encourages local residents to download the Floyd EMA mobile app, which is available free of charge through Apple’s iTunes and Google Play.  The app provides a wealth of information related to emergency preparedness, whether the emergencies are natural or man-made.

Herrington also advises Rome and Floyd County residents to sign up for the CodeRED weather alert system for weather alerts specific to their area.  This can be done online at www.romefloyd.com or by calling the Floyd County Emergency Management Agency at (706) 236-5002.
