CRBI BACK UNDER THE GOLD DOME FOR 2019 SESSION OF THE GEORGIA GENERAL ASSEMBLY
The new legislative session has not only kept lawmakers occupied in the last few weeks, it has also been a busy time for those who champion causes under the Gold Dome.
The Coosa River Basin Initiative is again championing the cause of cleaner water before legislators. Jesse Demonbreun-Chapman, Executive Director, states that his organization is now working with the Georgia Water Coalition towards the safe handling of coal ash; the goal is to ensure that toxic remains from power plants are stored in a manner that will not pose a threat to surface and ground water in the area. Concerns are also being raised about placement of buffers around the state.
Demonbreun-Chapman attests that the CRBI will also continue to champion the cause of trust fund honesty. This is a cause that those on both sides of the political aisle support, he adds. Their mission is to make sure that fees paid to the state fund the purposes for which they were intended.
Supporters are invited to join the CRBI for Capitol Conservation Day at the State Capitol in Atlanta on February 20th.
