COMMUNITY SPEAKER SERIES CONTINUES WITH ‘BAT BASICS’ AT ECO CENTER ON THURSDAY

Written by Matt Davis on August 8, 2018. Posted in News/Weather

The Rome-Floyd ECO River Education Center will continue their “Rome is Home” community speaker series this Thursday evening with a presentation about bats.

Emma Wells, Education Coordinator for the ECO Center, indicates that Trina Morris of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources will be the presenter for “Bat Basics”.  And she is likely to bring a bat to the family-friendly event.

This presentation on the world’s only flying mammals is scheduled for 7 pm at the center, located at Ridgeferry Park in Rome.  Interested parties are asked to call (706) 622-6435 or send an email to ewells@romega.us to pre-register in advance to attend the session.

The final session of the community speaker series will be held on the second Thursday in September; Berry College associate professor of geology Tamie Jovanelly will make the presentation

Wells reminds area educators that this is a good time to book field trips to the ECO Center for the 2018-2019 school year.  This is particularly certain if you want to plan that field trip for a Friday.

The center is already booking field trips into 2019, adds Wells.  Teachers may call the center for more information.
