In college softball, Shorter University’s Lady Hawks were in Columbus, Georgia to participate in a Southern States Athletic Conference Crossover event over the weekend.  They beat Mobile 5-1 before having their time cut short  at the event as all three of their final games were canceled, including matches Faulkner on Friday and Belhaven and Auburn-Montgomery on Saturday.  The Lady Hawks will host Brewton Parker in a double header tomorrow at 5 pm at the Alto Park softball complex.

Berry College’s softball team was swept by Piedmont in a double header 7-6 and 6-3 on Saturday at Berry’s South Ford Field.  That was followed by a split with LaGrange yesterday.  Berry won the opener 8-0 while LaGrange took the finale by a score of 6-0.  The Lady Vikings will get back into action this Friday in Winston-Salem, North Carolina against Salem.
