COLLEGE BASKETBALL WEEKEND UPDATE, GAMES ON TAP TO START THE WEEK

In your local college basketball update from over the weekend, Shorter University split a pair of Southern States Athletic Conference matches with Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee on Saturday night.  The 24th ranked Lady Hawks lost to the Lady Flames 71-58.  The number one Hawks maintained their perfect record with their 21st win of the season 80-77 over the 17th-ranked Flames.  Shorter’s basketball teams will host Truett McConnell tonight in a couple of SSAC East games at the Winthrop King Centre on the Shorter University campus.  Tip off is set for 6 pm for the women and 8 pm for the men.  The games will be broadcast on 95.7 FM The Ridge and www.theridge957.com.  

Berry College hosted Rust College in women’s and men’s basketball on Saturday afternoon at Berry’s Cage Center.  The Lady Vikings lost to the Lady Bearcats 48-44.  The Vikings picked up their first victory of the season 93-90 in overtime from the Bearcats.  The Lady Vikes will be in Huntsville, Alabama to take on Oakwood University tonight at 7 pm.  The Vikes will host Huntingdon tomorrow night at 7 pm.  That game will be broadcast on the AM 1410 WLAQ and www.wlaq1410.com.    

In other college basketball news, Georgia Tech lost to North Carolina 93-81 in an ACC match in Chapel Hill, North Carolina last night.
