Written by Matt Davis on February 6, 2019. Posted in Uncategorized

The Rome City Schools’ Spelling Bee was held Tuesday at the RCS Central Office in downtown Rome.  According to a media release by the city schools, Mason Cochran, a West End Elementary School student, won the competition for correctly spelling the word ‘hilarious’.  Samuel Metzger of North Heights Elementary was the runner-up.

Cochran will proceed to the region Spelling Bee to be held later this month at Georgia Highlands College; Metzger will be the alternate.

Students from all of the city’s elementary schools and Rome Middle School participated in the system-wide Spelling Bee.  As victor, Cochran received a certificate as well as the RCS Spelling Bee banner to display at West End.
