CITY COMMISSION CANS PROPOSAL TO CREATE OPEN-CONSUMPTION DISTRICT

The Rome City Commission has nixed a proposed ordinance that would have created an open-consumption alcohol district in downtown Rome.  The final vote on the matter was 7-1 against the measure; Commissioner Wendy Davis was the lone ‘yea’ vote, according to this morning’s Rome News-Tribune.  A number of citizens attended Monday night’s City Commission meeting to express their concern over the proposal.
