CITY COMMISSION APPROVES TAX ALLOCATION DISTRICT FOR REDEVELOPMENT OF OLD KMART PROPERTY

Written by Matt Davis on May 14, 2019. Posted in News/Weather

The Rome City Commission has voted to approve the creation of a fourth tax allocation district (or TAD) for the old Kmart property on Hicks Drive.  This brings Ledbetter Properties one step closer to redeveloping the area for retail and restaurant space.

Commissioner Wendy Davis stated in a recent interview that the Ledbetters will likely bring new business to Rome at what will be dubbed “East Bend”; this will translate to the addition of new jobs.

The redevelopment plan will be presented to the Floyd County Commission for their approval. Ledbetter Properties is anticipated to close on the project on July 1, 2019; site work is slated to begin on August 1st
