CIS CELEBRATES SILVER ANNIVERSARY THIS SCHOOL YEAR

Written by Matt Davis on October 31, 2018. Posted in News/Weather

Communities in Schools of Rome and Floyd County is celebrating 25 years of service during the 2018-2019 school year.

Gregory Wooten, CIS Executive Director, attests that the organization indeed has a lot to celebrate.  He says that over the last quarter of a century, CIS has served over 16,700 local students.  This is due in large part to the assistance of volunteers, who have logged almost 180,000 hours of service.

Mentors and volunteers encourage students to stay in school and achieve life goals, according to Wooten.

Wooten adds that CIS will celebrate its Silver Anniversary with a luncheon in early 2019; stay tuned for details.
