CHIEFTAINS MUSEUM/MAJOR RIDGE HOME TO HOST FAMILY FREE DAY THIS SATURDAY

Written by Matt Davis on October 31, 2018. Posted in News/Weather

The Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home will host a Family Free Day this Saturday, November 3rd from 10 am until 2 pm.  According to a release from the museum, the event will feature Cherokee storytelling as well as portrayals of historical figures.

Chieftains will join forces with Dr. Allen Bryant, an Associate Professor in the College of Education at Appalachian State University, to bring Cherokee culture to the community.  Dr. Bryant facilitates a partnership with Cherokee Central Schools to support American Indian students on the Qualla Boundary in North Carolina to pursue the field of education, a great need in the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Dr. Bryant will bring several of his Cherokee high school students to Northwest Georgia.  These students will educate locals on their history and promote their culture in this region.

Family Free Day is free and open to the public.  Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home is located on Riverside Parkway in Rome.  Learn more online at www.chieftainsmuseum.org or by calling (706) 291-9494.
