CEDARTOWN FACES MURDER CHARGE FOLLOWING THE DEATH OF HIS VICTIM ON WEDNESDAY

Written by Matt Davis on January 5, 2017. Posted in News/Weather

The accused in an assault that occurred in Lindale in late December now faces a murder charge, following the death of his victim.

According to a release from the Floyd County Police, Paul Grady, age 43, passed away on Wednesday morning at Floyd Medical Center.  He died of apparent head trauma sustained in the attack on Tuesday, December 28th.  Police initially believed they were responding to a shooting incident.  On arrival, it was determined that a shooting had not occurred but officers found the victim with an obvious head injury due to what appeared to be an assault.  Hours later, the suspect, 30-year-old Corey Gardhigh of Cedartown, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery and cruelty to children.  The charge was upgraded to felony murder upon the death of Grady.  Gardhigh remains in custody at the Floyd County Jail without bond.
