SHORTER UNIVERSITY FINISHES ALABAMA ARCTIC BLAST WITH FIVE WINS AND TWO LOSSES, BERRY TAKES THREE OF FOUR AT RHODES COLLEGE CLASSIC

Shorter University’s softball team continued play in the Alabama Arctic Blast in  Decatur, Alabama over the weekend.  In scores from Friday, the number 9 Lady Hawks lost to Milligan 5-4 and beat Thomas 4-1.  On Saturday, the Lady Hawks beat Bryan 5-4 with an extra inning, which was followed by a loss to Martin Methodist 6-5.  They bounced back with an 8-0 shut out of Point University on Saturday evening.  Shorter’s softball team will return to action tomorrow in Waleska, Georgia with a double header against Reinhardt at 3 pm.

COLLEGE BASEBALL: SHORTER SWEEPS LOYOLA IN NEW ORLEANS, BERRY SPLITS WITH NORTH PARK AT HOME

Shorter University’s baseball team swept Southern States Athletic Conference rival Loyola University in a three game series over the weekend in New Orleans, Louisiana.  The Hawks won Friday evening’s game 11-3 and both games of Saturday’s double header 15-0 and 9-3.  They’ll get back into action at home against Talladega College in a double header tomorrow at 1 pm at Shorter’s Robert H. Ledbetter Baseball Complex.

WEST BEATS EAST IN 2012 NBA ALL STAR GAME

In NBA news, the West beat the East 152-149 in the 2012 NBA All Star Game last night in Orlando, Florida, home of the Magic.

SHORTER UNIVERSITY BASKETBALL TEAMS VICTORIOUS OVER LEE UNIVERSITY IN FINAL HOME GAMES OF REGULAR SEASON

It was a victorious night on the hill for both the Shorter University men’s and women’s basketball teams as both picked up wins from Southern States Athletic Conference rival Lee University in Shorter’s final home games of the season last night at the University’s Winthrop King Centre.  The 20th ranked Lady Hawks beat the 4th ranked Lady Flames 60-44.  The number two Hawks notched a 61-55 win over the 16th ranked Flames.  Shorter will close out the 2011-2012 regular season tomorrow in Cleveland, Georgia with more SSAC action against Truett McConnell.  The women will play at 2 pm, followed by the men at 4 pm.  The games will be broadcast on 95.7 FM The Ridge and www.theridge957.com.

SHORTER UNIVERSITY SOFTBALL TAKES TWO IN FIRST DAY OF ALABAMA ARCTIC BLAST

Shorter University’s softball team is in Decatur, Alabama for the Alabama Arctic Blast thru Saturday.  In yesterday’s opening day scores, the 9th ranked Lady Hawks beat Campbellsville 1-0 and Indiana-Southeast 5-0.  Today’s schedule includes matches with Milligan at 2 pm and Thomas at 4 pm.  They’ll face Bryan, Martin Methodist and Point tomorrow.

Shorter University’s baseball teams will be in New Orleans, Louisiana for a three game series with Loyola University over the weekend.  The teams will play a single game this evening at 7 pm Eastern Time and a double header tomorrow at 2 pm.

TIME FOR THE NBA ALL STAR BREAK!

In NBA news, the Atlanta Hawks ended a three game losing streak with an 83-78 win over the Orlando Magic last night at the Philips Arena.  With the win, the Hawks improve their record to 20 wins and 15 losses overall so far for the 2011-2012 season.
