ATLANTA HAWKS FALL TO MILWAUKEE BUCKS ON THE ROAD

In NBA news, the Atlanta Hawks fell to the Milwaukee Bucks 108-101 last night in Milwaukee.  The Hawks will return home to the Philips Arena in Atlanta to host the Chicago Bulls tonight at 7:30 pm.

In your Atlanta Braves Spring Training update, the Braves beat the New York Mets 7-5 yesterday in Port St. Lucie, Florida.  Freddie Freeman helped secure the win with two homers for the Braves, one in the seventh and another in the ninth.

REGISTRATION BEGINS FOR BRAVES MIRACLE FIELD OF ROME

In other Braves news, the Rome Braves have announced that they, along with the Atlanta Braves Foundation and the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority, are currently accepting registration for athletes at the new Braves Miracle Field of Rome.  Registration forms are available online at www.romebraves.com and www.rfpra.com.  The cost is $50 per athlete, but scholarship opportunities are available, according to a Rome Braves media release.  Miracle Field athletes will be recognized on field at State Mutual Stadium before the Rome Braves game on Friday, April 13th.

SHORTER BASEBALL TAKES 10-INNING VICTORY OVER BRYAN COLLEGE

In your local college baseball update, Shorter University picked up a 9-8 victory in 10 innings over Bryan College in a non-league match-up yesterday at Shorter’s Robert H. Ledbetter Baseball Complex.  The Hawks will return to action this weekend in Mt. Vernon, Georgia with a three-game series against Brewton Parker.

BERRY COLLEGE SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH COVENANT

Berry College’s softball team split a double header with Covenant yesterday at Berry’s South Ford Field.  Berry won the opener 6-5, while Covenant took won the nightcap 10-7.  The Lady Vikings will host Piedmont in a double header this Saturday at noon.

ATLANTA HAWKS HOPE TO CONTINUE WINNING WAYS IN MILWAUKEE TONIGHT

In NBA news, the Atlanta Hawks hit the road to take on the Milwaukee Bucks tonight in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Tip off is set for 8 pm.  The Hawks hope to continue the winning streak they experienced over the weekend with back-to-back-to-back wins over the New Jersey Nets, Washington Wizards and Utah Jazz.  They currently have a 30 win – 20 loss record so far for the 2011-2012 season.

BRAVES BACK IN ACTION TODAY AFTER DAY OFF YESTERDAY; JONES UNDERGOES KNEE SURGERY

SHORTER BASEBALL SWEEPS JOHNSON UNIVERSITY AT HOME, ON THE ROAD TO FACE BRYAN TODAY

In your local college baseball update, Shorter University swept a non-league double header with Johnson University yesterday at Shorter’s Robert H. Ledbetter Baseball Complex.  The Hawks won game one 14-2 and the nightcap 15-0.  They’ll head to Tennessee for a non-league solo game this afternoon at 4 pm.
