ROME BRAVES GAME SUSPENDED DUE TO POWER OUTAGE

Last night’s Rome Braves game with the Savannah Sand Gnats was suspended due to a power failure at State Mutual Stadium.  The game will resume today in the top of the fifth and will go nine innings.  It will be followed by a seven inning game.

Finally!  A win for the Atlanta Braves over the New York Mets!  The Braves beat the Mets 9-3 last night at Turner Field.

COLLEGE BASEBALL: BERRY SWEEPS COVENANT

Berry College’s baseball team swept Covenant in a double header in Lookout Mountain, Georgia yesterday 12-2 and 7-5.  The Vikings will close out the regular season this Saturday with a double header against Toccoa Falls at 1 pm.

Shorter University’s Lady Hawks softball team will get back into action today in Cleveland, Tennessee against Lee University.  The double header will get underway at 3 pm.

MARK RICHT COMING TO ROME

University of Georgia head football coach Mark Richt is coming to Rome!  The Rome Area Bulldog Club is hosting UGA Day at The Forum in downtown Rome today.  Tonight at 6 pm, the club will hear from Richt and head basketball coach Mark Fox.  The event will be hosted by sports personality Chuck Dowdle.

BERRY COLLEGE NAMES FIRST-EVER FOOTBALL COACH

It was a big day for Berry College athletics yesterday as Tony Kunczewski (pronounced “Kun-chesky”) was named the school’s first-ever head football coach.  Kunczewski comes to Berry from LaGrange College, where he served as defensive coordinator and head strength and conditioning coach since 2005.

ROME BRAVES LOSE 12-INNING HEARTBREAKER TO SAVANNAH SAND GNATS AT SMS

The Rome Braves lost a heartbreaker to the Savannah Sand Gnats 6-5 in 12 innings last night at State Mutual Stadium in the series opener between the teams that was delayed nearly an hour due to rainy conditions.  Rome Braves radio voice JB Smith has the wrap up.
