ATLANTA HAWKS TO HOST INDIANA PACERS TONIGHT

In NBA news, the Atlanta Hawks will play their fourth home game in a row tonight against the Indiana Pacers at 7:30 pm at the Philips Arena.  The Hawks, who started the season with a great home record, have lost their last three straight games at Philips.  They currently hold an 8-4 record at home and a 16-10 record overall for the 2011-2012 season.

College basketball, of course, is in full swing and it won’t be too long until March Madness hits.  One of Rome’s very own, Doug Shows, is an NCAA Division I referee, and has served in that capacity for 20 years.

ATLANTA BRAVES CARAVAN VISITS ROME, ROME BRAVES HIGH SCHOOL INVITATIONAL SET FOR MARCH 3RD

The Atlanta Braves Caravan paid a visit to Rome yesterday and announced the first ever Rome Braves High School Invitational to be played at State Mutual Stadium on Saturday, March 3rd.  The Braves visitors included Brian McCann, Dan Uggla and Chipper Jones.  They were joined by manager Fredi Gonzalez and Executive Vice President and General Manager Frank Wren.  Baseball teams from Model, Pepperell, Armuchee and Coosa High Schools were also in attendance.

ATLANTA HAWKS DROP THIRD STRAIGHT AT HOME TO PHOENIX SUNS

In NBA news, the Atlanta Hawks dropped their third straight at home to the Phoenix Suns 99-90 at the Philips Arena last night.  The loss leaves the Hawks with an 8-4 record at home and a 16-10 record overall so far for the 2011-2012 season.  The Hawks continue their current homestand with a match against the Indiana Pacers tomorrow night at 7:30 pm at Philips.

COLLEGE HOOPS RADIO SCHEDULE

We’ll have Berry College men’s basketball tomorrow night on WLAQ AM 1410 and www.wlaq1410.com as the Vikings travel to Maryville, Tennessee to take on Maryville College at 7:30 pm.  WLAQ AM 1410 will also provide coverage this Saturday as the Vikings and Lady Vikings host LaGrange at the Cage Center on the Berry College campus.  Tip off is set for 2 pm for the women and 4 pm for the men.  As with all our local sporting events, the games will be aired online at www.wlaq1410.com.
