The Atlanta Braves opened an eight game homestand with a loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 on Tuesday night at SunTrust Park.  It was the sixth loss in a row for the Braves and the ninth straight win for the Dodgers.

BRAVES SWEPT BY PHILLIES IN PHILADELPHIA

The Atlanta Braves ended the month of July with a loss to the Philadelphia Phillies 7-6 on Monday in the finale of a four game set at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.  This allowed the Phillies to sweep the series, marking their first four-game sweep of the Braves at home since September 1949.  The Braves are 0-7 so far this season at Philly.

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1 on Sunday in game three of a four game set at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, marking the Braves’ fourth straight loss and the fourth straight win for the Phillies.

SCHUERHOLZ INDUCTED INTO BASEBALL HALL OF FAME

Longtime Atlanta Braves executive John Schuerholz has officially taken his place among baseball’s best and brightest stars.  Schuerholz was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York on Sunday.  Former commissioner Bud Selig was also among this year’s inductees, along with players Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines and Ivan Rodriguez.

ATLANTA BRAVES IN PHILLY THROUGH MONDAY

The Atlanta Braves were off on Thursday and will continue their current 11-game road trip with a four game set in Philadelphia versus the Phillies tonight through Monday.  Julio Teheran will serve as the starting pitcher for Atlanta, while Jeremy Hellickson will head to the mound for Philadelphia in tonight’s series opener.  First pitch is set for 7:05 pm at Citizens Bank Park.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410.  Air time for pre-game programming is 5:50 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.
