It’s almost time for the ‘Gold Ball’, y’all!  The 64th annual Seven Hills Rotary Rome News-Tribune Holiday Festival Basketball Tournament will be held December 18th through 22nd.  Boys’ and girls’ basketball teams from 10 area high schools will compete in the tournament at Georgia Highlands and Berry Colleges.

COLLEGE HOOPS ON AIR TONIGHT

College basketball will return to the airwaves of 95.7 FM The Ridge tonight as Georgia Tech hits the road to face Wofford.  Tip off is slated for 7 pm; air time is 6:30 pm.

CLASSES CANCELLED AS ROME HIGH IS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP-BOUND ONCE AGAIN

The Rome High School football team will defend their state title this Friday; as such, classes have been cancelled for the Rome City School system.  That day has been designated by system officials as a ‘field trip day’.

HAWKS FALL TO NETS AT PHILIPS ARENA

The Atlanta Hawks fell to the Brooklyn Nets 110-90 on Monday night in NBA action at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, allowing the Nets to avenge their loss at home on Saturday to the Hawks.

ATLANTA FALCONS FALL TO MINNESOTA VIKINGS

The Atlanta Falcons fell to the Minnesota Vikings 14-9  at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Sunday, ending a three-game winning streak for the Falcons.  It was the eighth straight victory for the Vikings.

Georgia Tech ended a six-game homestand with a loss to Tennessee 77-70 in men’s basketball on Sunday in Atlanta.

TEAMS SET FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF SEMIFINALS!

The teams have been set for the 2017 College Football Playoff semifinals!  No. 3 Georgia will take on No. 2 Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl, while No. 1 Clemson will go head to head with No. 4 Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.  The teams will be vying for a spot in the championship game on January 8th at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
