ATLANTA BRAVES IN ST. LOUIS THIS WEEKEND, ROME BRAVES TO PLAY DOUBLE HEADER TONIGHT

The Atlanta Braves were off on Thursday and will return to action tonight with the first of three games in St. Louis, Missouri against the Cardinals.  Mike Foltynewicz will serve as the starting pitcher for Atlanta, while Adam Wainwright will head to the mound for St. Louis.  The series opener is slated to get underway at 8:15 pm and will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410.  Air time is 7 pm from the Braves Radio Network.

BRAVES SWEPT BY PHILLIES…AGAIN

The Atlanta Braves have been swept by the Philadelphia Phillies again.  The Braves dropped the finale of a brief two-game set at SunTrust Park 3-2 to the Phillies on Wednesday night, allowing the Phillies to sweep the series.

FREEMAN IS NOW HIGHEST-PAID RUNNING BACK IN THE NFL

Devonta Freeman is now the highest-paid running back in the NFL.  Freeman agreed to a contract extension with the Atlanta Falcons on Wednesday; he will be paid $41.25 million over five years.  The Falcons will open the pre-season tonight in Miami versus the Dolphins.

ATLANTA BRAVES FALL TO PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Philadelphia Phillies 5-2 on Tuesday night in the opener of a brief two-game set at SunTrust Park, allowing Philadelphia to improve to 10-2 in the season series between the teams.

ATLANTA BRAVES TO HOST PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES TONIGHT

The Atlanta Braves were off on Monday and will continue their current eight game homestand with a brief two-game set against the Philadelphia Phillies over the next couple of nights at SunTrust Park.  Julio Teheran is slated to serve as the starting pitcher for Atlanta in tonight’s opener.  First pitch is set for 7:35 pm.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410.  Air time from the Braves Radio Network is 6:20 pm.

GEORGIA TECH MEN’S BASKETBALL COACH IN ROME TONIGHT

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Miami Marlins 4-1 on Sunday in the finale of a three-game set at SunTrust Park, denying the Braves a sweep of the Marlins over the weekend.

ATLANTA UNITED ENDS IN 1-1 DRAW WITH SPORTING KC

In soccer news, Atlanta United rallied for a 1-1 draw in a Sunday outing with Sporting KC at Kansas City.  Atlanta is off until August 23, at which time they remain on the road to face DC United.
