It is now time to hit the road for Thanksgiving!  AAA, The Auto Club Group, projects 54.3 million Americans will journey 50 miles or more from home for the holiday, a 4.8 percent increase over last year.  The 2018 holiday weekend will see the highest Thanksgiving travel volume in more than a decade (since 2005), with 2.5 million more travelers this year.

STATE PARKS WILL BE OPEN THIS THANKSGIVING!

Once the Thanksgiving table has been cleared, gather up the family and head over to your nearest state park!  This is the message of Kim Hatcher, Public Affairs Coordinator for Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites, who says that parks across the state will be open on Thanksgiving and Christmas, although park offices may be closed for the holidays.

DAVIES TO SERVE AS GRAND MARSHALL FOR ROME CHRISTMAS PARADE IN 2018

William S. “Bill” Davies has been tapped to serve as the Grand Marshall for the 2018 Rome Christmas Parade.  The announcement was made at a special breakfast hosted by the Christmas in Rome Committee and sponsored by the Heritage First Bank on Tuesday; city officials, parade officials and past grand marshalls were in attendance at the event.

GDOT TO SUSPEND LANE CLOSURES IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA FOR THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY

The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced that it will suspend all construction-related lane closures on interstate highways and primary state roads in Northwest Georgia from 6 am on Wednesday to 5 am on Monday for the Thanksgiving holiday.
