AAA:  HOLIDAY DRIVING DEMAND LEADS TO TEMPORARY RISE IN THE PRICE AT THE PUMP

AAA, The Auto Club Group, reports that holiday driving demand has led to a temporary increase in gas prices.  Tuesday’s national average price per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline stood at $2.44 to mark an increase of two cents over last week.  The average is about 26 cents per gallon higher that the same time last year.

Be careful on the roadways this morning!  A wintry mix is in the forecast for our area today, according to the National Weather Service.  Cold rain is the primary form of precipitation expected to fall, though it may be mixed with freezing rain and sleet from time to time; little to no sleet accumulation is anticipated.  Area in the far northern part of the state could even see a little snow today.  A transition over to rain is predicted by noon.  Temperatures are expected to remain above freezing.

Georgia Northwestern Technical College will hold an Open House for its Youth Success Academy on Tuesday, January 9th, 2018.  The event is slated to take place from 9 am until noon on the Floyd County campus of GNTC, in Room E-106A.

State troopers continue to urge motorists to use caution during their holiday travels.  Their advice?  Drive sober and buckle up!

Be sure to pack your patience if you plan on hitting the road for the holidays!  An estimated 2.8 million Georgians will load up the car (or truck, or SUV, or other type vehicle) and take to the highways and byways during the year-end holiday travel period to mark a 2.8 percent increase from last year, according AAA, The Auto Club Group.
