RED CROSS ASSISTS LOCAL FAMILIES DISPLACED BY AN APARTMENT FIRE

Disaster responders from the Northwest Georgia chapter of the American Red Cross provided assistance to a family that was displaced by an apartment fire on Avenue A in Rome late Tuesday night/early Wednesday.

A brand new morgue is open for business in Floyd County!  The new morgue has been established the former site of Floyd County Animal Control (which is now known as PAWS and is located on North Avenue).  A ribbon cutting was held on Tuesday to commemorate the opening of the new Floyd County Morgue, located at 431 Mathis Road.

BACON FEST 2018 SET FOR SATURDAY IN CAVE SPRING

HARBIN CLINIC’S WALK WITH A DOC SERIES TO CONTINUE ON MAY 19TH

The 2018 edition of Harbin Clinic’s Walk with a Doc program will continue on Saturday, May 19th.  This month, the walk will be led by vascular surgeon Dr. Frank Stegall Jr., according to a Harbin media release.  It will depart from  Bridgepoint Plaza in downtown Rome at 9 am.

ESCAPED INMATE CAPTURED WITHOUT INCIDENT

An escaped inmate was captured without incident on Monday night, reports the Georgia Department of Corrections.

GEORGIA’S BAN ON OUTDOOR BURNING BEGINS TODAY (MAY 1)

Georgia’s annual ban on outdoor burning begins today (Tuesday, May 1st) for 54 counties, primarily in the northern half of the state.  The state EPD places these restrictions during the summer months due to increases in ground level ozone that may create health risks, according to a media release issued by the Georgia Forestry Commission.

AAA:  APRIL GAS PRICES ARE THE HIGHEST THEY’VE BEEN IN FOUR YEARS
