Halloween is coming soon.  It’s this Wednesday, October 31st.  If you haven’t gotten Halloween costumes for your kiddos (or yourself) yet, there are important standards of safety you’ll want to heed.  Daniel Carpenter, fire safety educator with the Rome Fire Department, says to look for costumes with labels indicating they are fire proof or fire resistant.  He also indicates that costumes should have some sort of reflective material so they can be seen in the dark.  Carpenter also says to be on the lookout for those trick or treaters on Wednesday night, to ensure their safety as they hit the streets in search of treats.  He urges drivers to slow down in areas where kids will be trick or treating.
