A local Labor Day tradition enters its 50th year in 2017.  The St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus Labor Day BBQ will be held on Monday at the Rome Civic Center.  Doors open at 10 am, and food will be served until 2 pm (or until sold out).

Residents of Rome and Floyd County, like many people across the nation, are reaching out to assist those in Texas who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey.  Efforts are additionally being made to provide for the needs of those impacted by the storm in Louisiana.

HARVEY ANTICIPATED TO IMPACT LOCAL WEATHER

Harvey is anticipated to have an impact on the weather in the Greater Rome area.  According to the National Weather Service, there is a slight chance of severe storms for today with isolated tornadoes being the primary concern.  Heavy rain is also expected with isolated instances of flash flooding possible, mainly in poor drainage areas.  High winds have also been predicted.

DOWNTOWN SATURDAY FOR SEPTEMBER TO FEATURE FREE SCREENING OF ‘BEAUTY AND THE BEAST’ (2017 EDITION)

The Rome Downtown Development Authority will host its final Downtown Saturday event of the year on Saturday, September 2nd at the Town Green next to The Forum River Center.  A free screening of the 2017 edition of “Beauty and the Beast” will take place around 8 pm.
