TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY TO VOTE EARLY IN NOVEMBER 7TH ELECTION

Today is the final day to vote early in the November 7th election.  There are three locations at which to cast your ballot in advance from 8 am until 5 pm, including the Floyd County Elections Office at the county’s Administration Building on East Fourth Avenue, Garden Lakes Baptist Church located at 2200 Redmond Circle and at the Rome Civic Center.

TASK FORCE NETS MORE THAN 300 ARREST WARRANTS FOR COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES STATEWIDE

A statewide burglary task force has resulted in over 300 arrest warrants for commercial burglaries that have occurred across Georgia since 2015.  A press release from the Floyd County Police Department reveals that the task force has identified 20 suspects that have been operating together to commit the burglaries across the state and into Tennessee.

‘EAT A FISH, SAVE A RIVER!’ AT COOSA RIVER BASIN INITIATIVE’S ANNUAL FISH FRY ON SATURDAY

The Coosa River Basin Initiative invites you to “Eat a Fish, Save a River!” during their 16th annual Fish Fry (and Green Expo) to be held on Saturday in the Wilder Center of the First United Methodist Church in downtown Rome.  Attendees will be served US farm raised catfish filets, hushpuppies, cole slaw and cheese grits from 11 am until 3 pm.

RADIATION ONCOLOGIST DR. MATT MUMBER TO LEAD HARBIN CLINIC’S NEXT WALK WITH A DOC

Dr. Matt Mumber, Radiation Oncologist, will lead the Harbin Clinic’s next Walk with a Doc event, scheduled for Saturday, November 18th.  The walk will leave Bridgepoint Plaza in downtown Rome at 9 am and will follow the Kingfisher Trail.  People of all fitness levels are invited to participate.

ROME-FLOYD CHAMBER TO HOLD 2017 BUSINESS EXPO THIS WEEK

The Rome-Floyd Chamber will hold its 2017 Business Expo this week at the Forum River Center in downtown Rome.  It will be open to the public on Friday from 10 am to 3 pm.  A Business After Hours at the Expo will be held for Chamber members on Thursday from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

The beginning of November is a good time to prepare for the winter by raking up leaves that have fallen on your lawn this fall, according to Keith Mickler, UGA Extension agent for Floyd County, who suggests that rakers bag up their leaves to be used as mulch next Spring.
