The Harbin Clinic will present a Hike Through History this Friday at Myrtle Hill Cemetery.  The event, slated for 11 am until 2 pm, will highlight Historic Preservation Month; it has been planned in conjunction with the Downtown Development Authority and the Historic Preservation Commission.

GNTC SPRING COMMENCEMENT IS TONIGHT

Georgia Northwestern Technical College will host its Spring Commencement Ceremony tonight at the Forum River Center in downtown Rome.  The event is scheduled to begin at 7 pm.  Stephanie Kinman, the college’s Rick Perkins Award winner for 2018, will serve as the keynote speaker.

This week, May 6th through 12th, is National Travel and Tourism Week.  The purpose of the observation is to encourage locals to become tourists in their own hometowns.  It is also an opportunity for those in the travel and tourism industry to celebrate the value that travel holds for the economy, businesses and personal well-being.  The theme for 2018 is “Then and Now”.

HIGH TEMPS IN THE 90S THIS WEEKEND FOR GREATER ROME

Get ready to break out your shorts, if you haven’t already!  High temperatures are anticipated to be in the low 90s by this weekend, according to the forecast from the National Weather Service.  The heat will be accompanied by sunny skies.  High temperatures will continue to inch upwards through the mid to upper 80s during the remainder of this week; lows in the overnight hours will be in the low 60s.  A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms enters the forecast on Thursday; skies are anticipated to clear out by Friday night.
