Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful invites you to Bring One for the Chipper!  The annual Christmas tree recycling event is scheduled for Saturday, January 5th from 10 am until noon in the parking lot of Home Depot, 103 Hicks Drive in Rome.  The site is already accepting trees, according to Emma Wells, KRFB Director, so you can go ahead and drop them off at your leisure.

Trees will be recycled into mulch for playgrounds, landscaping projects and things of that nature, as well as fish habitats.

Wells says that tree donors will be given free seedlings or seed packets.  And there will be volunteers on hand to help you unload your tree (or trees).

Terry Page, the City of Rome’s arborist, and Floyd County’s UGA Extension Agent Keith Mickler will be at the event to advise atttendees on how to plant and grow those seedlings or seeds.

The local Bring One for the Chipper is part of a statewide initiative of Keep Georgia Beautiful to give Christmas trees ‘a second life’, adds Well.  Locals may find additional details on the event Facebook page.
