The Atlanta Braves opened an eight-game road trip with a win over the New York Mets 4-2 on Thursday night at Citi Field; it was the fourth consecutive victory for the Braves.

Atlanta jumped on the board first on an RBI single from Ozzie Albies in the top of the first.  New York struck back in the bottom of the inning on a home run by Brandon Nimmo.  But the Braves secured the lead for good with three runs in the third inning; Freddie Freeman broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI single, and Johan Camargo added insurance with a two-run double.

The Mets tacked on another run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 4-2, but their threat stopped there.

Ronald Acuna Jr. crossed home plate twice in the outing; he also had his first big league triple.

Mike Foltnynewicz picked up the win for the Braves after giving up two runs and five hits, walking one and striking out five in six innings.  AJ Minter was credited with the save.

The Braves, who remain a half-game behind the Philadelphia Phillies in the race for first-place of the National League East, will face the Mets again this evening in the second outing of a four-game set at New York.  First pitch is set for 7:10 pm.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410.  Air time for pre-game programming is 5:55 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves’ game slated for Thursday night in Greenville, SC against the Drive was postponed because of rain.  It will be made up as part of a double-header today at 4 pm.
