Written by Matt Davis on May 10, 2019. Posted in Sports

The Atlanta Braves lost a heartbreaker to the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2 in 10 innings on Thursday night in the opener of a four game set at Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ.  It was the fourth straight loss for the Braves.

Mike Soroka and Luke Weaver were locked in a pitchers’ duel through most of the night.  Atlanta snapped a 1-1 tie in the top of the ninth on a solo home run from Josh Donaldson.  But David Peralta tied it back up on a solo homer in the bottom of the inning.  Arizona clinched the win on a walk-off single by Ketel Marte in the top of the 10th

AJ Minter was charged with the loss for Atlanta.  Jon Duplantier nabbed the win for Arizona, his first in the majors.

The Braves will face the Diamondbacks again this evening.  First pitch is set for 9:40 pm Eastern.  The game will be broadcast on the airwaves of WLAQ AM 1410 and 96.9 FM.  Air time is 8:25 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves fell to the Greenville Drive by a final score of 6-4 on Thursday at State Mutual Stadium.  The teams will meet again tonight at 7 pm.
