Written by Matt Davis on June 11, 2018. Posted in Sports

The Atlanta Braves wrapped up a six game road trip out west with a loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-2 on Sunday in the finale of a three-game set at Dodger Stadium in LA, allowing the Dodgers to take the series 2-1.

Sean Newcomb took the loss for Atlanta after giving up five runs and seven hits, walking two and striking out six in five and a third innings.

The Dodgers homered three times in the match, bringing their weekend total to nine.  Those included a solo shot from Max Muncy in the fifth; it was his third homer of the series.

Ozzie Albies and Freddie Freeman each had solo home runs for the Braves in the top of the fourth. Those were the only runs surrendered by Ross Stripling, who was credited as the winning pitcher for LA.

The Braves concluded their west coast swing with two wins and four losses.  They will take today off and will return to SunTrust Park on Tuesday evening to open a six-game homestand with the first outing of a brief two-game series versus the New York Mets.  First pitch is set for 7:35 pm.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410; air time is 6:20 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves were defeated by the Kannapolis Intimidators 4-1 in the finale of a three-game set at State Mutual Stadium on Sunday.  The Braves will be in Greenville, South Carolina tonight to take on the Drive at 7:05 pm.
