Written by Matt Davis on August 9, 2019. Posted in Sports

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Miami Marlins 9-2 on Thursday evening in the opener of a four game set at Marlins Park in Miami.

It was a tough night on the mound for Dallas Keuchel, who surrendered eight runs and 10 hits, walked one and struck out four over just three and two third innings; he took the loss for Atlanta.

Ronald Acuna Jr. provided an offensive highlight in the form of a solo home run that finally got the Braves on the board in the top of the eighth inning. It was his 30th home run of the season.

Brian Anderson had a pair of home runs for the Marlins to include a solo shot in the first and a two-run shot in the fourth. Starlin Castro also had a two-run homer in the first.  Elieser Hernandez was credited as the winning pitcher for Miami.

The Braves will face the Marlins again tonight at 7:10 pm.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM.  Air time is 5:55 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves returned to State Mutual Stadium in victorious fashion with 7-0 shut out victory over the Augusta Greenjackets in the opener of a four game series on Thursday evening.  Game two is set for tonight at 7 pm.
