BRAVES DROP OPENER IN MINNESOTA TO TWINS

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Minnesota Twins 5-3 on Monday night in the opener of a three-game interleague set at Target Field in Minneapolis; it was the second straight loss for Atlanta. 

Minnesota secured the win on a pinch-hit, two-run homer from Miguel Sano in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Chris Martin took the loss for Atlanta after surrendering that walk-off homer. Trevor May was credited with the win for Minnesota. 

Freddie Freeman contributed a solo home run for the Braves in the top of the fifth.  Max Kepler had a solo shot for the Twins in the bottom of the inning. 

The Braves will face the Twins again tonight in Minnesota.  The first pitch is slated for 8:10 pm Eastern.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 6:55 pm. 

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves fell to the West Virginia Power by a final score of 5-2 on Monday evening in Charleston, WV.  Those two teams will conclude their four game set this afternoon at 12:05 pm.  The Power now leads the series 2-1.
