The Atlanta Braves beat the New York Yankees 5-3 in 11 innings on Monday night in the opener of a three-game set at Yankee Stadium, marking the fourth straight win for the Braves.

Ronald Acuna Jr. was the hero of the night with a two-run homer in the top of the 11th inning that ultimately lifted Atlanta to victory.

Acuna contributed a total of three RBIs.  Johan Camargo also had a solo shot in the top of the third.

Jesse Biddle was credited with the win in relief, while AJ Minter got the save for Atlanta.  David Robertson took the loss for New York.

The Braves will face the Yankees again tonight at 7:05 pm in New York.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410; air time is 5:50 pm.

Atlanta currently holds the best record in the National League with a total of 49 wins and 34 losses on the season.  New York is now a game behind first-place Boston in the American League standings.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves were defeated by the Kannapolis Intimidators 2-1 on Monday evening in game three of a four-game set at State Mutual Stadium.  The teams’ series finale is slated for tonight at 7 pm.
