BRAVES BEAT TWINS TO EVEN SERIES AT TARGET FIELD

Written by Matt Davis on August 7, 2019. Posted in Sports

The Atlanta Braves defeated the Minnesota Twins by a final score of 12-7 on Tuesday evening in the middle outing of a three game series at Target Field in Minneapolis, allowing the Braves to even the set at 1-1 (as well as snap a two game losing skid).

Ronald Acuna Jr. hit a solo home run on the very first pitch of the game from Jose Berrios.  It was his sixth lead-off homer of this season and the 14th of his career.

Freddie Freeman added a three run homer off of Berrios in the top of the third inning.

Mike Foltynewicz was triumphant in his return to the majors; he gave up just three runs and five hits, walked two and struck out seven over five and a third innings en route to the win for Atlanta.  Berrios took the loss.

Nelson Cruz had a pair of home runs for the Twins.  Mitch Garver and Eddie Rosario also homered.

The Braves will conclude their series at Minnesota this afternoon at 1:10 pm.  This game will not be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM due to our airing of Rush Limbaugh during that time.  WLAQ will rejoin coverage from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network as the Braves travel to Miami to open up a four game set against the Marlins on Thursday night.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves emerged victorious over the West Virginia Power 8-6 on Tuesday in Charleston, WV; this resulted in a 2-2 split in the four-game series between the teams.  Rome is off today.
