BALTA GROUP TO LOCATE US HEADQUARTERS AT FORMER FLORIDA TILE SITE
The site previously occupied by Florida Tile in Shannon will soon have a new occupant.
According to a media release from the Rome-Floyd Chamber, the 172 acre site has been purchased by an investment partnership as Phillip Hight of Hight Property Group and Hardman Knox of Knox Properties recently acquired the site from Caterpillar. This will result in a combined $10 million investment and the creation of 75 new jobs.
The Balta Group will locate their US headquarters at the former site of Florida Tile. Balta is the largest producer of textile floor coverings in Europe. Some 95 percent of its products are exported to 100 countries around the world.
The new property owners intend to renovate the existing 320,000 square foot industrial facility for the Balta Group and lease the remaining property to future prospects. The remaining acreage will be developed into pad sites ranging from 50,000 to 700,000 square feet.
Financial incentives have been approved by the Rome-Floyd County Development Authority for both Balta and the new property owners.
