HARBOR HOUSE TO BENEFIT FROM ANNUAL ROMAN RUMBLE SET FOR SATURDAY

Harbor House, the Northwest Georgia Child Advocacy Center, will benefit from the 31st annual Roman Rumble 5K and 2-Mile Health Walk to be held this Saturday.  It will begin and end at Rome’s Ridgeferry Park.

ATLANTA BRAVES IN DC TONIGHT

The Atlanta Braves were off on Monday and will return to action tonight in Washington DC with the first of three games against the National League East-champion Nationals.  Julio Teheran will serve as the starting pitcher for Atlanta, while Gio Gonzalez will head to the mound for Washington.  First pitch is set for 7:05 pm.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410.  Air time is 5:50 pm from the Braves Radio Network.

GEORGIA TECH FOOTBALL GAME AT UCF CANCELLED DUE TO IRMA’S IMPACT ON FLORIDA

Georgia Tech’s football game that was scheduled for this Saturday in Orlando versus the University of Central Florida has been cancelled due to the impact of Hurricane Irma on the area.  It will not be rescheduled, according to school officials.  The Yellow Jackets will open ACC play against Pittsburgh on Saturday, September 23rd in Atlanta.  The game will be broadcast on 95.7 FM The Ridge, Rome’s radio home for Georgia Tech athletics.

Gas prices continue to climb amid an active hurricane season.  Motorists nationwide have seen a significant increase in the price at the pump in recent weeks, particularly motorists in the Southeastern US.

FLOYD COUNTY COMMISSION SCHEDULED TO MEET TUESDAY

The Floyd County Commission is scheduled to meet in regular session on Tuesday.  They’ll gather for a caucus session at 2 pm, to be followed by their regular meeting at 4 pm at the Floyd County Administration Building on East Fourth Avenue in downtown Rome.  Both are open to the public.

ATLANTA BRAVES TAKE EXTRA-INNING VICTORY FROM MIAMI MARLINS

The Atlanta Braves beat the Miami Marlins 10-8 in 11 innings on Sunday in the finale of a four-game set at SunTrust Park, allowing Atlanta to take the series between National League East rivals 3-1.
