ATLANTA BRAVES’ MATCH AT CHICAGO POSTPONED, TEAM HEADS BACK TO SUNTRUST PARK TONIGHT

The Atlanta Braves’ series finale versus the Chicago Cubs slated for Sunday at Wrigley Field was postponed due to inclement weather.  The game will be made up on May 14th.

DARLINGTON SCHOOL PLAYS HOST TO FLOYD COUNTY SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Darlington School’s Chris Hunter Memorial Stadium served as the site of the Floyd County Special Olympics on Thursday.  A total of 600 young athletes representing Rome City and Floyd County Schools, as well as the Georgia School for the Deaf, participated in the annual event.

CHIEFTAINS HERB AND PLANT SALE TO BE HELD THIS WEEKEND

Stock up on items for your spring garden (and support a historic landmark at the same time) at the Chieftains Herb and Plant Sale slated for this weekend.  The sale will be held in the Village Building at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds in Rome; sale hours are 8 am until 4 pm on Saturday and noon until 3 pm on Sunday.  Proceeds will benefit the Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home, a site designated by the National Park Service as part of the Trail of Tears and a National Historic Landmark.

CHIAHA HARVEST FAIR NAMED 2018 RECIPIENT OF RACA’S ROME ARTS CHAMPION AWARD

The Board of Directors for the Rome Area Council for the Arts has named the Chiaha Harvest Fair as the 2018 recipient of the Rome Arts Champion Award (or R.A.C.A.).

ATLANTA BRAVES IN CHICAGO TO FACE THE CUBS OVER THE WEEKEND

The Atlanta Braves had the day off on Thursday and will return to action this afternoon with the opener of a three-game series in Chicago against the Cubs.  Anibal Sanchez will serve as the starting pitcher for Atlanta, and Yu Darvish will head to the mound for Chicago.  First pitch is set for 2:20 pm at Wrigley Field.  We will join Braves Radio Network coverage of the game in progress upon the conclusion of Rush Limbaugh at 3 pm on WLAQ AM 1410.

CRBI TO HONOR GREENIE AWARD WINNERS AT APRIL 19TH EVENT

The Coosa River Basin Initiative will honor its 2018 Greenie Award winners with a special event on Thursday, April 19th that will be held in the Dark Side of the Moon event space in downtown Rome.  Festivities are scheduled to get underway at 6 pm.

The 2018 Rome Area Prayer Breakfast will be held on the National Day of Prayer, Thursday, May 3rd, at the Forum River Center in downtown Rome.  The event, which is open to the community, will begin at 7 am; doors will open at 6:30 am.

FLOYD COUNTY MAN LOSES HIS LIFE UPON WALKING INTO THE PATH OF A TRACTOR-TRAILER

A Floyd County man was killed early Wednesday morning when he walked into the path of a tractor trailer on GA 53.
