ROME-FLOYD CHAMBER OBSERVES GEEK WEEK

The Rome-Floyd Chamber is celebrating all things geeky this week during Geek Week 2017.  The observation got underway on Monday with a kick-off breakfast.  Activities will be held all week long, including Geek Week Trivia with the Young Professionals of Rome this evening at 5:30 pm at the Dark Side of the Moon on Broad Street.  There will also be a Robotics Showcase at Darlington School on Wednesday at 4 pm, a Business After Hours event at JBM Office Solutions (519 Broad Street) on Thursday at 5 pm and a Hack-A-Thon at Berry College’s Hackberry Lab on Friday at 6 pm.

EARLY VOTING CONTINUES FOR NOVEMBER 7TH ELECTION

And it’s off to the races for early voting in the November 7th election.  The Floyd County Elections Office reported that 112 registered voters cast their ballots on Monday, the first day of early voting.

MLB PLAYOFF UPDATE

In an MLB playoff update, the New York Yankees took an 8-1 victory from the Houston Astros on Monday night in game three of the American League Championship Series, allowing the Yankees to cut the Astros’ lead to 2-1 in the series.  Todd Frazier and Aaron Judge each hit three-run homers in New York’s win.  Game four is set for today at 5 pm at Yankee Stadium.

AAA:  GEORGIA GAS PRICES CONTINUE TO DECLINE

Gas prices in Georgia averaged $2.44 per gallon on Sunday after dropping eight cents during the past week, according to AAA, The Auto Club Group.  The state average has decreased for 33 consecutive days for a total discount of 32 cents.  Although Georgia gas prices are 30 cents less than a month ago, the state average remains 18 cents higher than this time last year.

PUMPKIN PATCH AT TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS!

If you’ve driven down Turner McCall Boulevard over the past week, chances are great that you’ve noticed the plethora of pumpkins adorning the lawn of Trinity United Methodist Church.  Those pumpkins are for sale!

FALCONS FALL TO DOLPHINS

The Atlanta Falcons fell to the Miami Dolphins 20-17 on Sunday at Mercedes Benz Stadium, marking the second straight loss for Atlanta.
