AAA:  DIP IN OIL PRICES LEADS TO DECLINE IN PUMP PRICES

Oil prices pushed lower last week, giving motorists hope for continued relief at the gas pump.  AAA, The Auto Club Group, reports that the national average price for gasoline has climbed 14 cents since February, but that upward trend came to an end over the weekend.

AMERICAN RED CROSS SEEKS SPRING BLOOD DONATIONS

The American Red Cross wants your blood this spring!  Blood donations are desperately needed to restock Red Cross supplies for the season, attests Kristen Stancil, External Communications Manager for Biomedical Field Marketing and Communications for the organization’s Southern Region.  She’s asking Northwest Georgia residents to roll up their sleeves and make a donation!

ROME CITY, FLOYD COUNTY COMMISSIONS TO HOLD REGULAR MEETINGS THIS WEEK

The Rome City Commission will meet in regular session this evening.  They’ll gather for a caucus session at 5 pm, to be followed by their regular meeting at 6:30 pm at City Hall (the City Auditorium).  Both sessions are open to the public.

ATLANTA BRAVES SWEPT IN PHILLY

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Philadelphia Phillies 5-2 on Sunday in the finale of a three-game set at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park, allowing the Phillies to sweep the series.  It was the Braves’ sixth straight loss.

HAWKS CONTINUE PLAYOFF RUN TONIGHT

The Atlanta Hawks will host the Washington Wizards tonight in game four of the first-round NBA playoff series between the teams.  Tip off is set for 8 pm at the Philips Arena.  Television coverage will be provided on Fox Sports Southeast and TNT.

ROME AREA PRAYER BREAKFAST SLATED FOR MAY 4TH TO COINCIDE WITH NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER

The 2017 Rome Area Prayer Breakfast has been scheduled to coincide with the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 4th.  The event will be held at The Forum River Center in downtown Rome from 7 am until 8:30 am; doors will open at 6:30 am.

ACTIVITIES PLANNED AROUND THE REGION FOR EARTH DAY

Saturday is Earth Day.  The observation is being made locally today with the annual Renew Our Rivers clean up from 8 am until 1 pm.  This year’s focus is Armuchee Creek, according to Mary Hardin Thornton with Keep Rome Floyd Beautiful.
