ATLANTA BRAVES SHUTOUT BY WASHINGTON NATIONALS

The Atlanta Braves were handed a shutout loss by the Washington Nationals by a final score of 2-0 on Monday night in the opener of a three-game series at DC, ending a five-game losing skid for the Nationals.

Max Scherzer pitched a complete game en route to the win for the Nats.  He gave up just two hits, walked none and struck out ten.

Julio Teheran took the loss for Atlanta after giving up two runs and five hits, walking four and striking out seven over six innings of work.

Howie Kendrick delivered the offense for Washington with a two-run double in the bottom of the first.

The Braves will face the Nats again tonight.  First pitch is set for 7:05 pm at Nationals Park.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410.  Air time is 5:55 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves fell to the Charleston Riverdogs 10-2 on Monday night at State Mutual Stadium.  Game two of the three game series between the teams is slated for this morning at 10:30 am.
