ATLANTA BRAVES SHUT OUT NL-EAST CHAMPION WASHINGTON NATIONALS IN DC

The Atlanta Braves took an 8-0 shut-out victory over the National League East-champion Washington Nationals on Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game series at Nationals Park in Washington DC.

Freddie Freeman celebrated his 28th birthday with a three-run homer off Gio Gonzalez in the top of the third inning.

Ozzie Albies added a solo shot in the seventh.  He and Freeman both went 3-for-5 on the night.

Julio Teheran picked up the win for Atlanta after allowing seven hits over seven scoreless innings, walking two and striking out five.

Gonzalez took the loss for Washington; he was charged with five runs and seven hits, walked one and struck out eight in five innings.

The Braves will face the Nationals again tonight at 7:05 pm.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410.  Air time is 5:50 pm.
