ATLANTA BRAVES RALLY IN THE NINTH TO BEAT D’BACKS, TAKE SERIES IN ARIZONA

Written by Matt Davis on September 10, 2018. Posted in Sports

The Atlanta Braves defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-5 on Sunday in the finale of a four game set at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona, allowing Atlanta to take the series 3-1.

Ronald Acuna Jr notched his 25th home run of the season to get the Braves on the board in the top of the sixth.  But the D’backs took the lead with four runs in the bottom of that inning.  Freddie Freeman chipped away at that lead with an RBI single in the eighth to make it 4-3.

The Braves staged a comeback with a six-run rally in the ninth inning.  Ender Inciarte (a former Diamondback) led the charge with a three-run homer.

That was followed by a solo shot from Lucas Duda and a two-run homer off the bat of Johan Camargo.

Sam Freeman picked up the win in relief for Atlanta, while Brad Boxberger took the loss for Arizona.

The Braves now lead the NL East by four and a half games over Philadelphia. They’ll be in San Francisco, California tonight to face the Giants.  First pitch is slated for 10:10 pm Eastern at AT&T Park.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410; air time is 9 pm.
