ATLANTA BRAVES PICK UP SECOND WIN IN A ROW OVER SAN DIEGO PADRES AT TURNER FIELD

Written by Matt Davis on August 16, 2012. Posted in Sports

The Atlanta Braves beat the San Diego Padres for the second night in a row, 6-1 last night in game three of a four game series at Turner Field.  Paul Maholm got the win; he pitched seven innings, giving up five hits and just one run (a solo home run from Logan Forsythe in the top of the third).

Highlights from the Braves included a three run homer from Dan Uggla in the bottom of the third that put the Braves out in front.

There was no looking back from there for the Braves.  They posted three more runs in the bottom of the fourth (which included a two-run double from Jason Heyward), and the Braves ended up beating the Padres, again, by a final score of 6-1 last night.

The Braves will close out their series with the Padres tonight at 7:10 pm at Turner Field.  The game will be broadcast on the AM 1410 WLAQ, Rome’s original home for Atlanta Braves baseball.  Air time for the pre-game show is 5:55 pm from the Atlanta Braves radio network.

The Braves remain four and a half games behind the Washington Nationals in the National League East (the Nationals beat the San Francisco Giants last night).  Upon closing out their series with the San Diego Padres, the Braves prepare to welcome the Los Angeles Dodgers to Atlanta for a three game series over the weekend.
