The Atlanta Braves opened a six-game road trip with a 12-5 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night in Pittsburgh.  It marked the third win in a row for Atlanta.

Austin Riley tallied his ninth home run since making his major league debut three weeks ago.  His three-run shot gave the Braves a 6-5 lead in the top of the seventh inning.

Josh Donaldson added a three-run dinger in the eighth, and Freddie Freeman hit a two-run shot in the ninth.

Braves starting pitcher Max Fried surrendered five runs and nine hits, walked two and struck out three in the game’s first four innings. Dan Winkler had one strikeout in the scoreless sixth inning to get the win in relief.

The Braves will face the Pirates again this evening in the second outing of a three-game set at PNC Park.  First pitch is slated for 7:05 pm.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410 and 96.9 FM; air time is 5:50 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves fell to the Columbia Fireflies 3-2 on Tuesday night at Columbia, SC.  The teams will conclude their three-game set tonight at 7:05 pm.

Four Rome players have been tapped to participate in the 2019 South Atlantic League All-Star Game, the league announced Tuesday.  The list includes Jose Montilla (pitcher), Logan Brown (catcher), Greg Cullen (second baseman) as well as Trey Harris (outfielder).  The Sally League All-Star Game is slated to take place on Tuesday, June 18th in Charleston, West Virginia, the home of the West Virginia Power.
