Finally!  A win for the Atlanta Braves over the Washington Nationals!  The Braves beat the Nationals 3-2 yesterday afternoon in the series closer between the teams in Washington, DC.  Tommy Hanson got the win for the Braves; though he gave up two home runs in the first inning, he maintained his focus and only gave up those two runs, six hits and no walks in seven innings of work.  Craig Kimbrel got the save in yesterday’s game, his 16th of the season.

The game was highlighted by a single from Jason Heyward that scored two runs in the top of the fifth to give the Braves the 3-2 lead.

And it was by that score that the Braves claimed the final victory from the Nationals in yesterday’s game.  The teams split the weekend series in DC at a game a piece (Friday’s game was rained out).  The Braves remain in fourth place of the National League East, just two games behind the division-leading Nationals and a game and a half ahead of the last place Philadelphia Phillies.

The Braves will take today off.  They’ll play a three game series in Miami, Florida against the Marlins tomorrow night thru Thursday night.  First pitch of tomorrow night’s game is set for 7:10 pm at Marlins Park.  The game will be broadcast on the AM 1410 WLAQ, Rome’s original home for Atlanta Braves baseball.  Air time for the pre-game show is 5:55 pm.
