The Atlanta Braves fell to the Philadelphia Phillies 5-2 on Tuesday night in the opener of a brief two-game set at SunTrust Park, allowing Philadelphia to improve to 10-2 in the season series between the teams.

Odubel Herrera delivered the biggest hit of the night in the form of a two-run homer on a low pitch from Braves starter Julio Teheran in the Phillies’ three-run fifth inning.

Teheran took the loss for Atlanta after giving up five runs and seven hits, walking three and striking out six over five innings.  Zach Eflin was credited with the win for Philadelphia in his return from the minors, while Hector Neris picked up the save.

Highlights of the night for the Braves included a solo home run from Freddie Freeman in the top of the first inning, along with the major league debut of pitcher Max Fried (who pitched a pair of scoreless innings).

Rookie shortstop Johan Camargo was injured before the game began with what turned out to be a bone bruise.  He will be placed on the DL.

The Braves will conclude their two-game series with the Phillies (and an eight game homestand) this evening at 7:35 pm.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410.  Air time is 6:20 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves returned to their winning ways with a 4-0 shut-out victory over the Augusta Greenjackets in the middle outing of a three-game set in Augusta on Tuesday night.  The teams will meet for their finale this evening at 7:05 pm.
